  GRAS initials means the FDA generally regards them as safe to be taken internally as dietary supplements.  To me this is a very deceiving topic because I feel essential oils that are fragrance grade were not intended to be taken internally even though this is the grade many companies are selling.  It is all about the \"dollar\" for many companies and not about your health.  For instance, a lemon oil would be called GRAS because as a food grade source of essential oil it is safe to use as a flavoring and was only meant for flavoring not for Normal 0 MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 therapeutic reasons.  That\'s why it is very important to know your Essential Oil provider.  Many oil companies call their oils 100% natural and according to regulations only have to be only 10% pure oil and most of those are food grade oils.

  I do know the Rocky Mountain Oils Company and I do know they have top quality therapeutic grade essential oils that I use and trust. I invite people to compare the RMO quality.

  When I did some research on vegetable capsules a while back and found they actually have more chemicals in them to keep the capsules walls from collapse when they are being filled.  Interesting.

  So with all that I would say yes, you can ingest oils that say GRAS in a vegetable capsule but I would make very sure they were not food & fragrance grade oils.
